Rain Rain.

A thunderstorm moved in pretty fast this afternoon but as quickly as it moved in it moved right back out again.

I stumbled upon the Arizona Youth Artist office yesterday. I love the colors against the black wall. I hope you all have a great start to your week.

Idle weekend.

While riding around yesterday I looked up and these birds were just hanging around watch the cars driving by. Probably looking for a nice clean car to poop on.

Memorial

Phoenix made world wide news today but not for happy news but a tragedy. Two helicopters collided today in mid-air over a park. This happened very close to where I live. The two pilots and two news photografers were killed while filming a news story on a high speed police chase. After we had heard about this we were out shopping and caught glance of the clouds reflection on this building. I felt it would be a fitting tribute to post a picture of the sky to these men who lost their lives today. They may have fallen from the sky in this horrible accident but they will fly in the sky forever as angels.

Harded those arteries.

This little sausage market is one of the best in the city. There is a good variety to be had here. My favorite is the Apple sausage. I might just have to make a run by there this weekend. Have a good weekend everyone.

The power of water.

We had a big rain hit the area that I live in this afternoon. While on my way home I heard on the radio that the roof at the grocery store where I shop collapsed from the weight of the water on the roof. Luckily no one was hurt. I am happy about that, I love the people who work there. They are always so friendly.

I love old trucks. This one just happened to be at a shopping center that I go to every weekend. Happy Wednesday everyone!

Surrounded

No matter which way you turned yesterday afternoon storm clouds were surrounding the city. I had to race home just to avoid a dust storm.

Getting ready

This is where I spent part my weekend, actually just there buy boxes and moving supplies. I am down to my last two weeks of posting the daily photo for Phoenix. After living here most of my life I have decided to make a change and I will be moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico. I have not decided if I will start a daily photo site from there but if I do it will be a few weeks after I get settled. I would like to say thank you to all of you who have visited regularly. Hope you all have a good week.

Monsoon clouds

While out a park today I could see these huge clouds form all around the valley today. We are probably in for a good storm tonight.

Reflections III

I love the way these palm trees and clouds were reflecting on this building. Yesterday we had a huge dust storm. I am amazed by the strength of palm roots. We had alot of trees that were uprooted but not these two.

Survivors park

The Cancer Survivors park is a small strip down the middle of a street that leads to our main library. This statue marks the entrance of the park. Happy Friday everyone.

Curves and circles

This is one of the Financial buildings close to my home. The back side of this building was in yesterdays picture. As you can also see there is even more construction going on this street too.

Shedding its exterior

Just like most apartment buildings in this city, this office building is going condo. I thought the different textures in the architecture was interesting in this shot. As you can see by the palm trees in the lower right corner the wind was blowing today and with it we got our first monsoon storm of the season tonight. Its about time.

Not again

Lately it seems no matter where you go there is some kind of construction or road sign. Too much growth if you ask me. Any I hope that everyone has a good week and you don't hit any detours along the way.

Twins

These twin buildings are not far from where I live. I was trying to capture the color of the buildings in the foreground but the sun was pretty bright that day.

Melted reflection

Open this picture for a better look. The reflection looks like a melted image of the building next to it but it is of the building on the other side of the street. For some great shots of Phoenix check out Van Buren Dailey Photo.
Racing thru the week.

This sign is at the entry of the Phoenix Greyhound Racing track. This is where the make Greyhounds chase a mechanical rabbit around a track. The ground are also used for a swap meet on Wed,Sat and Sundays. With all the tents in the lot its hard to get a decent shot of the building.

Lucky Dog

I was on my way into a store yesterday and noticed this going on next door. Turns out this woman locked her keys and her small dog in her car by accident. With heat well over the 100's there is now way this dog would have survived long in that hot car. Lucky for this woman the firemen got her car unlocked in time to save her dog.

The Art of Music

When you go out to First Friday you never know what you will see. This group of drummers were so much fun. They got had people in the audience dancing.

Hide from the sun...

Yesterday people did everything to hide from the sun. Looking for shade or air conditioning if you weren't brave enough to stay outdoors. Yesterday some parts of the city hit 118 degrees.

Wednesday, July 04, 2007

Too Darn Hot!

As you can see by this sign we hit 114 degrees yesterday. We are supposed to get as high as 117 today. Needless to say my activities will take place indoors.
Happy 4th of July everyone!

Take a seat.

This is one of the antique stores close to my home. As hot as it has been here lately I don't know that I would have antiques sitting out in the sun.
